ISO 12944 ATMOSPHERIC CORROSION CATEGORIES & GEOTEC COATING SYSTEMS
ISO 12944 Standard was published in 1998 as a European, thus international standard. It is the most valid and highest standard reference in the world for effective protection of steel structures against corrosion. In steel structure industry, what draws attention regarding paint systems is the evaluation of system durability. Durability depends on many external factors like ambient conditions, design of the structure, surface preparation, coating application and drying process. Durability is also related with the chemical and physical feastures of the coating system e.g. binder type, film thickness.
